Does Reiki work over a video call?

A fair question, and the one most people arrive with. Here is the whole hour, described plainly — what happens, what people report feeling, and what nobody can honestly promise you.

Why you are here

You are tired in a way sleep is not fixing

And it has been months

So you have tried the obvious things. Less coffee, more walking, an earlier alarm, a meditation app you opened four times. Each one helped for about a week.

What is actually happening is that your nervous system has been running in alarm long enough that it has stopped standing down on its own. That is why rest is not landing: you are resting a body that has not been told it is safe to rest.

One hour where nothing is asked of you

A Reiki session is an hour in which you lie down, in your own room, and are not required to explain, perform, or decide anything. I work from my side while you rest. You can keep your camera off. You can fall asleep.

Distance changes nothing about that hour except the commute. You are not in a treatment room with a stranger; you are on your own sofa, under your own blanket, which for most people is the more honest place to let go.

What changes

What people actually report

Not insight, not visions. Physical, checkable things, usually within a day:

This is not medical treatment, and it does not diagnose or cure anything. It sits alongside your doctor and your therapist — never instead of them.

How the hour works

How a distance session actually works

Three parts, in order. No stage of it requires you to believe anything.

  1. Preparation — we settle, and you name the thing

We meet on video for a few minutes. You say what is present and what you would like the hour for — or you say nothing, which is also a complete answer. Then you lie down somewhere warm, put the phone out of reach, and turn your camera off. I ground myself and hold your name and your intention as the focus of the hour.

  2. The session — I work, you rest

For roughly forty minutes I channel Reiki with my attention held on you, working through the standard hand positions at a distance, in the same order I would use with you in the room. You do nothing. Music, silence, or my voice — you choose beforehand. Most people describe warmth, a heaviness in the limbs, or a slow unclenching; some feel very little during the hour and a great deal that evening.

  3. Integration — we close it properly

We come back on the call together. I tell you what I noticed and where the resistance sat; you tell me what you felt. Then water, notes if you want them, and no rush to get up. If anything is still moving over the following days, you write to me — that is included, not extra.

And the part I will not oversell

You will find people explaining distance healing with quantum entanglement. I am not going to do that: entanglement is a real phenomenon and it is not what this is, and borrowing the word would only be borrowing its credibility. What is measurable is narrower and more useful — an hour of undefended rest with sustained, undivided attention held on you reliably down-regulates a nervous system stuck in alarm, and that shift is most of what people come here for. Beyond that, I can tell you what I do, what hundreds of clients have reported, and where the honest edge of the explanation is. You are allowed to be skeptical and book anyway; most people who come back were.

Before you book

Questions people ask before booking

In practice, clients report the same things over video as in person — warmth, heaviness, the shoulders letting go, sleeping through that night. What distance removes is the commute and the strange room; you are on your own sofa, which for most people makes it easier to let go, not harder. I cannot show you a mechanism that physics has settled. I can tell you what happens in the hour and let you judge it against your own body.

Most people describe warmth in the hands or chest, a pleasant heaviness in the limbs, and a slow unclenching somewhere they had not noticed was clenched. Some fall asleep. Some feel almost nothing during the hour and then sleep ten hours that night. All three are normal and none of them means it did or did not work.

No, and you do not have to pretend to. Belief is not a requirement I can even check. Come skeptical, keep your skepticism through the hour, and judge it afterwards on whether your sleep and your shoulders changed. That is a fair test and it is the one I would apply.

No. Reiki has no deity, no scripture and no membership. The five principles I walk you through are closer to a set of daily intentions than a doctrine, and nothing in a session asks you to adopt them. People of every faith and of none book these sessions.

No, and please do not use it as one. It does not diagnose, treat or cure anything. It sits alongside your doctor and your therapist. Many clients find it reaches something talking therapy had left untouched — but that is alongside the therapy, not instead of it. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency service.

A quiet hour, headphones, and somewhere warm to lie down. A blanket helps. One Zoom link arrives by email — there is no app to install and no form to fill in.

Then you needed the sleep, and the session goes on exactly as it would have. Falling asleep is common and it does not interrupt anything.

Times are shown in your own timezone when you book, and I work across most of them. Sessions are held in English, Spanish or Portuguese — you choose when you book.

Most people start with one and decide from there. Something usually shifts in the first session; whether it holds is the question the second one answers. For an ongoing situation, three spaced a fortnight apart is the common pattern. Nobody is asked to commit to a package up front.

Start with one session

Seventy-five minutes, in your own room, in English, Spanish or Portuguese. If the time stops working, write to me and we move it.
